GB0HJC Special Event Station
On 30th August 1996, SADARC operated a Special Event Station to commemorate Captain Sir Henry Jackson, who carried out the first ship-to-ship radio experiments in 1896/1897, whilst he was commander of the torpedo training school HMS Defiance. The wooden vessels were moored of Wearde Quay in the river Lynher, and the station was set up at the rear of Saltash Comprehensive School, in sight of the location of HMS Defiance.
